A night to remember.............Yr 6 Dinner

 Friday 2nd December 2011

A night that will be remembered by all Year 6 students.  The children arrived in their best threads and were so excited about the evening.  The BOT, staff and parents provided the evening meal.  The children were welcomed to a fun night by Ms Hampton.  We had a special guest speaker, an ex-pupil who is now a resident GP at the Mangere Heath Centre Maria Liva.

She told the chidlren that she decided to become a doctor whilst she was attending Nga Iwi School.  The children ended the night with dancing and a lucky dip.

Cheering Crowd for athletics!

You could hear the Nga iwi athletics team cheering on each of their own at various track and field events.  Drumming and screams of cheers as each athlete crossed the finish line.

Our 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 year old athletes represented the school with pride.  Unikey (Rm 16) made a sand angel after his first attempt at long jump!  Jane (Rm 14) with confidence jumped really high!

The Tui / Mitre 10 Garden Challenge

Back in August, we entered the Tui / Mitre 10 Garden Challenge with our vegetable garden.

Today Miss Corlett and some members of the Nga Iwi Green Team, had a visit from 'Tui' (Gardening specialists)  today.  The lady was a judge in the competion that we entered back in August.  She came to look at our healthy vegetable garden.   She was very happy with the way our garden was growing.

We showed her our p lans and our booklet that we made with photos and comments about how the garden has been coming along.

Room 1 News

 ATTENTION PARENTS:

As we have a lot of new starters we do have a healthy food policy, we would encourage parents to provide children with a healthy lunchbox eg fruit, sandwiches, raisins (optional) and a bag of crisps (optional).

This is a uniform wearing school.  Please ensure that your child is in full uniform. These can be purchased at Postie Plus by the Airport Warehouse.

Room 1 has a cool water station.  As Summertime approaches we would like them to bring water bottles for use in class.

AKO TIME

Thank you to all the people who attended the AKO TIME session.  The last one will be on the 1st of December so don't miss out.  There will be take home activities and time to try them out.  Don't forget!  You can bring the children along!

You won't regret coming!  Lots of learning to help springboard our children's learning with fun and games!!

thank you

BRAIN BOX MANIA - Technology fun!!

Our students have enjoyed working with Branbox activities!  They have been learning about electronics in Term 4!  Room 3 enjoy building the following:  a speed boat, a radio and a helicopter.  Ask your children about electronics fun in their rooms!!

School Athletics!

Today Room 13 participated in Nga Iwi's Athletics Day.  What a fantastic day it turned out to be.  Our students ran like the speed of lightning, and jumped like they were one of many jellybeans!

Yes... there were many wins...and yes...a few loses...but most of all...our class still came away as winners!  Why...you may ask...is this possible?  Well...it was because we were there...with our peers showing them what we've been learning over the last few weeks....and some of us demonstrated some pretty good skills!

Whanau Ariki celebrates learning success!

Is it summer already?!  Whanau Ariki celebrates learning success with a fun afternoon!  We worked hard in the morning!  Rooms 1, 2, 3 and 4 had a shared lunch to celebrate a successful term.  Thank you to our parents for being of great support!  Such a variety of food.  We couldn't finish it all so we had to share some during lunch time with other classes.
