Tamariki Ora Day
On Thursday and Friday of last week we were lucky to have 46 students involved in the annual Tamariki Ora Day. This event was organised and run by the Maori Sports Awards. This event had 20 schools participating from across Auckland.
Every school involved adopted a Rugby World Cup team to support. We were very lucky to be given Tonga. As part of our support for Tonga we decided to run a variety of competitions, learnt the Tongan National anthem, held a special assembly where we invited two very special guests, and a Rippa Rugby competition.
We would like to thank all the parents that helped on Thursday and Friday, especially with the lovely lunch and making our school hall look amazing. Malo aupito.
Finally to all the staff that spent hours working on performance groups, painting flags and signs and cooking for our shared lunch thank you for your contribution.
We look forward to supporting the Tongan Rugby Team as they make history, as the first Island Nation to win the CUP!!
Lets Go TONGA Lets Go!!!

ALGEBRA CAMPAIGN
On Tuesday morning a group of students, the NZ Police and the Auckland Transport staff ran an awareness programme where cars were stopped outside our school and students talked to them about safe speed outside schools(40km). We were able to stop 45 cars in a forty minute timeframe. It was really excellent to see most cars driving at the legal speed limit which is 40km outside schools. These cars were given special goodie bags and congratulated for their safe driving. The cars that were traveling over the 40km were asked to remember the speed limit. It was awesome to work with the NZ Police and Auckland Transport. Well done to Tua (Rm 4), Zion (Rm 9) and Morris (Rm 18) for being part of the team and speaking to drivers with respect.

School Cross Country
Last week we held our school cross country. Students from 8 years of age to 11 were involved. Lot’s of students had been training hard to try and win a place in our school’s inter-school cross country team. Students tried hard and we think we may have the strongest team ever. It was also fantastic to see so many students cheering others on as they came to the finishing line. For some it wasn’t about winning but rather participation and having fun. The final results were:
8 year old winners - Lisi (Rm 16) and Eteuati (Rm 7)
9 Year old winners - Mairose (Rm 21) and Taniela (Rm 13)
10 &11 Year old winners - Rhonda (Rm 4) and Delahoya (Rm 21)
Congratulations to all involved!
