Whanau Ariki
Leading Stars to greatness.
Why did we choose this?
Ariki means Leader, chief, noble birth, celestial bodies eg stars, moon, and the sun.
Through great leadership, our ancestors were lead across the seas. Navigating their waka by using the stars above . In tribute to our past , our heritage, our ancestors we recognise their gifts, their wealth of knowledge passed down from generation to generation as our foundation . These gifts will help nurture and springboard our whanau to reach their potential through learning today for tomorrow .
The following were chosen by children in Whanau Ariki 2009.
Our Theme Song - Reach for the stars by S-Club 7.
Our Colours: Yellow & White - Represent the stars that our ancestors followed.
Our Mascot: Ariki (Our star character) was designed by Siosaia Feiloakitau.
