Whanau Tumanako

Our whanau decided to use the MOUNTAINS to depict the things that are hard in our lives right now. Like – reading, writing, mathematics and people. Our PAST is at the foothills of the mountain where before we came to school we did not know how to read and write yet. Some of our whanau are just starting their climb while others are well on their way. To accomplish this uphill struggle and find paths that will help us learn and grow, we must listen well to instructions and create goals from our guides to avoid falling into crevices. TUMANAKO!
Our parents believe in us and have pushed us through this open door of education to climb our mountain and meet our FUTURE. TUMANAKO! Believe in Yourself!
We have used the EAGLES to depict our future. When we work hard and make it to the top of our mountain there is nothing stopping us going beyond and soaring higher if we ‘believe in ourselves.’
Our theme song is the R Kelly hit: ‘I believe I can fly’ –
There are miracles in life I must achieve
But first I know it starts inside of me, oh
If I can see it, then I can do it.
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it -
I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
Hey, I believe in me,
If I can see it, then I can be it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it
Hey, if I just spread my wings
I can fly
I can fly
I can fly, hey
If I just spread my wings
I can fly!
